Paver sealing produces color restoration in proportion to how much color has been lost to UV fading over time. Bonita Bay pavers from the late 1980s and early 1990s have had 30–40 years of Florida’s intense UV exposure — producing the most dramatic color restoration of any community in our service area when professionally cleaned and sealed. Homeowners who have lived with Bonita Bay’s faded pavers for decades are frequently surprised by how close to original installation appearance their driveways and pool decks look after cleaning and sealing.

Beyond aesthetics, sealing closes the deeply weathered pore structure of 30–40 year old pavers against biological reattachment and further UV penetration. Unsealed older pavers in Bonita Bay’s dual coastal environment typically need cleaning every 12–14 months. Sealed pavers in the same environment extend to 18–22 months — a significant reduction in maintenance frequency and cost that more than offsets the sealing investment over the 3–5 year sealer lifespan.

For Bonita Bay’s oldest pavements, re-sanding with polymeric sand before sealing is often the correct first step. Joint sand that has been washing out for 30 years has left gaps that allow weed germination and water infiltration that sealing over these gaps would seal in place. We assess joint condition on every inspection and advise on whether re-sanding is needed before sealing.
