**Short answer:** After surge flooding, salt water and silt need to come off walls, pavers, pool cages and garage floors within weeks, before salt dries into the surface and mildew starts. After a wind storm, roofs and walls need cleaning once repairs are done. Most homes need one deep exterior wash after the storm, then a normal schedule after that.

Homeowners book their own house, driveway and pool cage. Condo boards and managers book walkways, garages, pool decks and building walls. We start with a free walk-through, photograph what we see, and give a written quote for each surface. We are Florida licensed and insured, and a certificate of insurance is available for any association or manager who asks.

🌊 Surge Storms and Wind Storms Leave Different Messes
Hurricane Ian · Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Ian hit on Sept 28, 2022 with an 8-foot storm surge that devastated Marco Island. The main threat was high-tide flooding. The debris piles were mostly mattresses, furniture and appliances from flooded homes, and pickup began Oct 3. The city counted 302 residential and 61 commercial structures damaged, and 21 condo buildings had elevators out.

Surge leaves a mud line on walls, silt in paver joints and pool cage tracks, and a salt crust on anything it touched. Vehicles sat in salt water during Ian, and 13 car fires followed. Salt is the real problem. It keeps pulling moisture into stucco, pavers and screen frames long after the water goes down. A light rinse with a garden hose moves the salt around. A proper wash with the right cleaner lifts it out.

Hurricane Irma in 2017 was a different storm on the island. Its damage was mostly wind. It blew off roofs, turned Marco into “Tarp City,” and left tree limbs and roof tiles as debris. After a wind storm the cleaning job is roofs and walls once repairs are finished, plus leaf stain and broken-limb residue on drives and decks. Tannin stains from wet leaves left on pavers for days come out with a paver-safe cleaner, not bleach.

💧 Cleaning Up Without Sending It Into the Canals
Storm Drains · Insurance · Condos

Marco Island's storm drains are not treated. They run through swales and outfalls straight to the Marco River, Factory Bay, Big Marco Pass, Barfield Bay, Roberts Bay and Caxambas Pass, and the city marks them “No Dumping, Drains to Ocean.” Before we wash, we shovel and sweep loose silt and bag storm debris so it does not ride our rinse water into a drain. Our cleaning solution is biodegradable and breaks down within hours, and we wet plants before and after so salt-stressed landscaping is not hit twice.

Photograph damage before anything is cleaned. Your insurer or adjuster may want to see the mud line or roof damage first. Once they are done, we clean and send a written service record with the date, surfaces, method and our Florida license number. Most Florida insurers accept it as proof of roof maintenance, and associations file it with their records.

Ian damage in Collier County was estimated at $2.2 billion, with more than 3,500 buildings facing major damage. After a storm like that, every contractor is busy. For condo buildings we work with the manager on garages and walkways first, since residents need those to get in and out. We do not wash a garage until flooded vehicles and wet electrical equipment have been cleared by the right people.

After the Next StormCall [239-544-1165](tel:2395441165) once it is safe to be on site. We are pre-registered with most major Naples gated communities and can schedule a walk-through as soon as roads are open.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Storm Cleanup · Marco Island

How soon after a hurricane should I wash off the salt?As soon as it is safe and your insurer has seen the damage. Salt keeps drawing moisture into stucco, pavers and screen frames, so the sooner it comes off, the less staining and mildew follow. Will washing my driveway send silt into the canal? Not the way we do it. We sweep and shovel loose silt and bag debris first, then wash. Marco Island storm drains run untreated to the bays and passes, so keeping silt out of them matters.Do you repair roofs or remove tarps? No. Roof repair is a job for a licensed roofer. Once repairs are done, we soft wash the roof to remove tarp marks and debris stains. We never walk on tile roofs.Do my pavers need to be resealed after surge flooding?Often, yes. Surge washes out joint sand and leaves salt in the surface. We clean first, let the pavers dry, refill sand, then seal. Driveway sealing starts at $599.
